Abstract

Background

Isolated intracranial metastasis to cerebellopontine angle (CPA) is very rare, as CPA tumors are mostly vestibular schwannomas.Case description

We present here a rare case of isolated brain metastasis in CPA primarily arising from gallbladder. A female patient presented with chief complaints of dizziness, difficulty walking, and nausea. On evaluation with magnetic resonance imaging brain, there was a contrast enhancing heterogenous mass in the right CPA. Patient underwent surgery that tumor was resected and sent for histopathological examination. Histology of tumor was metastatic adenocarcinoma. The patient was evaluated with positron emission tomography scan for possible primary and was found to be arising from the right lateral wall of gallbladder. Conclusion

Although limited by clinical nature of single case, metastatic adenocarcinoma of gall-bladder origin, despite its rarity, should be considered in the differential diagnosis of CPA lesions, particularly when clinical and radiological features are atypical.
