Hydrogen Production from Ionizing Radiation-Induced Degradation of Polycarboxylate Ether Polymers La Production d'Hydrogène issue de la Dégradation du PolyCarboxylateEther par les Rayonnements Ionisants
Abstract
PolyCarboxylateEther (PCE), a superplasticizer commonly used as additive in concrete, is considered as plastic waste piece. In this work, this polymer dispersed in different multiple cations water (from ultrapure to artificial seawater) is degraded by radiation process into carboxylic anions after few days duration. During the process (until 2 months), it is measured quantitative DiHydrogen (H2) concentration (until 0.025 mol.L-1) depending on pH and chemical composition solutions. Therefore, a new use for radioactive sources could be the radiation process degradation of plastic polymers in seawater combining to a decarbonized Hydrogen system production.
