Abstract
We have thoroughly explored the conversion of alkenyl and epoxy carbamates into cyclic carbonate alcohols. The substrate scope is robust, and the products are amenable to further transformations. In almost all cases, the reactions are predictably regioselective and stereospecific. The reactions can be run open to air and without precautions to exclude moisture. Indeed, H2O plays a critical role in the transformations and is added to the reactions as a key reagent.
