Abstract

The development of free-standing membranes with high efficiency and robust environmental tolerance remains a key challenge in dye wastewater treatment. Herein, MOF-808-incorporated polyethersulfone (PES) mixed matrix membranes (MMMs) were fabricated for the adsorptive removal of methyl orange (MO). The optimized composite membrane (MOF@PES-2) achieved a maximum MO removal efficiency of 98%. Notably, the membrane demonstrated good salt tolerance, maintaining removal efficiencies of >95% and >89% in MO solutions with NaCl mass concentrations equal to and ten times that of MO, respectively. These results highlight the potential of MOF@PES-2 for efficient dye removal from saline wastewater.
