Abstract

In the present work, a stable, green-coloured metallohydrogel was fabricated under ambient conditions through the spontaneous self-assembly of cobalt(II) nitrate hexahydrate, Co(NO3)2·6H2O, as the metal source with 3-amino-1-propanol acting as a low-molecular-weight gelator (LMWG) in aqueous medium. The synthesized metallogel was characterized using rheological analysis i.e.; strain sweep, frequency sweep and thixotropy. Surface morphology and network texture were probed by FESEM, elemental composition was verified by EDX analysis, and the gel's stimuli-responsive were subsequently evaluated.
