[A History of Neuro-Head and Neck Radiology in Korea Focused on the Korean Society of Neuroradiology].

Abstract

In 1980, five radiologists initiated the field of neuroradiology in Korea. The efforts and passion of these early pioneers and our members since that time have been foundational to the development of the Korean Society of Neuroradiology (KSNR). The KSNR has contributed to advancing research in neuroimaging, head and neck imaging, and neurointervention, while enhancing systematic and efficient image-based clinical practice in neuroradiology, supported by scientific evidence. In the late 1990s, the KSNR established structured subspecialty sections to promote sustained academic development through more in-depth clinical case discussions and research collaboration. This special article presents a historical review of the KSNR, while exploring its future roles and values in addressing the evolving scientific and societal needs.
